Missing Woman’s Body Is Found Near Machete & Shovel – but Cops Say It’s Unrelated

A homicide investigation is underway in Texas after a missing woman’s body was discovered on Wednesday.

Mariadelis Labrador Siles, 28, vanished on Monday, and her boyfriend reportedly told authorities that she possibly walked to Wildhorse Sports Park in San Antonio. Bexar County police and Alamo Area Search and Rescue used dogs to locate Labrador Siles’ body near the park, according to KSAT.

Labrador Siles’ body was in a wooded area. Bexar County coroners said she died from a stab wound to the chest.

Bexar County police told KSAT that a machete and shovel were found near the crime scene, but it appears to be unrelated to the case. Though police told the news outlet that they’re investigating the case as a homicide, Sheriff Javier Salazar said it is possible Labrador Siles’ injuries were self-inflicted.

“We don’t have any indicators that the body was dragged here. What we have is that the person died here on scene,” Salazar said, per the San Antonio report.

Additionally, Salazar said that Labrador Siles may have been experiencing a mental health crisis. According to the San Antonio Express-News, he noted that her boyfriend is cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

Labrador Siles apparently left home on Monday without her phone or wallet. KENS reported that three wooden stakes were also near Labrador Siles’ body, but it is unclear whether it is related to her death.
